On November 4, 2005 in Wheaton IL, Roger Nelson, representing Descendants of 80th Division Veterans presented a copy of Russell Stultz's book History of the 80th Division AEF in World War I to "First Division Museum at Cantigny". This donation was made to recognize the military cooperation between the "Blue Ridge Division" and "The Big Red One" during the Meuse-Argonne offensive Sept 26 to Nov 11, 1918. Commentary in the "History" indicates that on Nov 6 1918, the 80th pulled back allowing the First Divison to pass into their position for the closing days of the War. In the photo are Eric Gillespie, Senior Archivist at the Museum, Roger Nelson, and Lt Col John Votaw (USA ret) retired Executive Director of The First Division Museum.

The bronze figure is a maquette (artists model) in bronze of the figure of Liberty that stands atop the First Division monument in Washington, DC. General Summerall, the commander of the division in WW1 from July through mid-October 1918, chaired the committee to design the monument and approved the figure for the top. There is a second bronze maquette in the possession of the Summerall family.
